Celts and Sharjah win Round 2 of Senior Hurling/Camogie League

Dubai Celts and Sharjah Gaels were victorious in the second round of the Middle East Hurling and Camogie League on Saturday in Sharjah.
Dubai Celts maintained their winning form from Round 1 in Al Ain with a three-point win over Jumeirah Gaels (0-12 to 1-9). While it was a strong team performance from 1-14, Emmet Nolan (Birr) and Gary Tynan (Danesfort) were the standout players for the Celts.
In the senior camogie final, Sharjah were comfortable 0-7 to 0-2 winners over Dubai Celts, with Anna Myers (Brian Dillons, Cork) and Hollie McGregor (Good Counsel, Dublin) showcasing their class throughout the day. Myers was flawless from the frees, while McGregor chipped in with a series of outstanding scores that drew cheers from the crowd each time.
In other results, Al Reem Shamrock won the intermediate men’s title, while Abu Dhabi Na Fianna and Al Ain won the intermediate and junior camogie tournaments respectively.
In the handball, Darragh Ruane (Sharjah) claimed the senior division, while Gearoid O’Muiri (Kerry Middle East) took the intermediate title. Sharjah secured the doubles, and Ruane (Sharjah) and Ciara Jordan (Abu Dhabi Na Fianna) teamed up to capture the mixed doubles.
The next round of the hurling and camogie league takes place at Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi on Saturday, January 31.
