Dubai Celts lifted the senior hurling and camogie titles on Saturday at the Sevens Stadium after respective victories over Abu Dhabi na Fianna and Jumeirah Gaels in the finals.

In the senior camogie final, Aoibheann Malone (Corofin, Clare) led by example with her flawless free-taking, while Alannah Mullaney’s (Newport, Tipperary) goal helped Celts to a 1-10 to 1-5 victory over Jumeirah Gaels - their four successive league title. Celts are sprinkled with star players across the field, but special mention must go to Molly Woulahan (Brídíní Óga, Antrim), who has been exceptional over the last two tournaments.

In the senior men’s final, Emmet Nolan (Birr, Offaly) showcased his class with three goals - two in the opening five minutes - as Celts ran out 3-10 to 1-10 winners over Abu Dhabi na Fianna, avenging their Round 3 defeat in Al Reem last month. It was a strong team performance from 1 to 14, and much deserved credit must go to manager Wes Morrissey (Patrickswell, Limerick) and his backroom team, who have had the team in fine shape all year. Even when changes were made to the team over the last two rounds, Anthony Spillane (Castlelyons, Cork), who missed Round 1 due to club action at home, and Shane Mahony (O'Loughlin Gaels, Kilkenny) stepped into the side and really drove things on, both in attack and defence.

In the intermediate men’s hurling final, Jumeirah Gaels beat Al Reem Shamrocks to force a play-off for the league title, which Gaels went on to win. In the intermediate ladies’ final, Dubai Celts beat Abu Dhabi na Fianna.

The hurling and camogie championship will take place in Abu Dhabi on 17-18 April.
