Middle East win four titles at GAA World Games

The Middle East enjoyed a memorable week at the 2026 GAA World Games, clinching four titles across football, hurling and camogie.

Success came in both the Men’s and Ladies Football competitions, along with victories in the Hurling and Camogie competitions, completing a clean sweep of four final victories at Walsh Park in Waterford. 

Men’s Football

Middle East put together a strong run of results in the Men’s Football competition, beginning with a 1-20 to 0-6 win over Italy.

They followed that with a 7-8 to 1-6 victory over Yorkshire GAA before beating Waterford Football 5-17 to 0-8.

Yorkshire provided the opposition again in the final, but Middle East came out on top for a second time. Three goals helped them to a 3-10 to 0-5 win and the Men’s Football title.

Ladies Football

The Middle East Ladies Football team also enjoyed an impressive week, opening with a 6-5 to 0-3 victory over France Irish before recording an 8-8 to 0-0 win against Benelux.

They continued their winning run with a 6-11 to 0-8 victory over Waterford and a 2-10 to 2-2 win against Asia.

Middle East finished the competition with their biggest result of the week, winning Friday’s final by 4-10 to 0-1 to claim the Ladies Football title.

Hurling

Middle East began their Hurling campaign with a close game against Asia, eventually winning by 3-7 to 1-13.

They followed that with a 3-18 to 2-6 victory over Benelux to book their place in Friday’s final, where they faced Asia for a second time.

The final proved another close contest, with Middle East scoring 2-23 to Asia’s 4-12 to take the Hurling title.

Camogie

The Middle East camogie team started their competition with a 2-7 to 2-4 victory over Britain 1 before beating Britain 2 by 2-13 to 2-2.

They followed those results with wins over Europe, 5-10 to 0-3, and Asia, 7-14 to 1-1, to reach the final.

Britain 1 were again the opposition in the decider. Middle East built on their earlier win to record a 3-11 to 0-9 victory and secure the Camogie title.

It completed an excellent World Games for Middle East, with four teams reaching four finals and returning with four titles from the 2026 competition.
